Family watching General Conference

Ashton

On Monday night I had a blind date with a girl named Aubrie. We went to the puppy store in Orem, and then got dinner. It's kind of funny, because up until recently, I had not been going on many dates, but in about a week I went on three!

Something else this week that was pretty special was that my ward got to help clean the Provo City Center Temple. My group was assigned to the women's locker room, which doesn't sound too exciting at first, but that means we got to see the bridal room! It was really amazing, and in my opinion, it was the most beautiful room second to the Celestial Room.

The highlight of the week was General Conference. On Saturday morning, my ward had a breakfast before the session. My bishop pulled me aside during the breakfast and told me he had one ticket to attend the Sunday afternoon session of conference, and asked if I would like it. I accepted it and was really excited to go!

On Sunday afternoon, Gloria, Veidi, London, Endia, and I went downtown in the hopes that they could join in the standby line. Long story short, that didn't work out, and I had forgotten my ticket about a block away in the car, so, we just decided to watch it outside on the grass.

As we were watching I kept getting the feeling that my ticket needed to be used. There was a very limited amount given out, and mine was just sitting in the car doing nothing. So, I went back to the car, to get it in hopes of being able to find someone to give it to. I walked back to the car, and when it wasn't there, I realized it had been in my suit coat pocket the entire time!

I walked back over to the conference center, and just prayed I would find someone that needed it. Only a few seconds later, I ran into a man who was asking if anyone had an extra ticket. I approached him and handed him mine.

He was so appreciative and gave me a hug! His name was Ernest. It was a really special experience, and obviously the Lord's hand was involved. I don't know why Ernest needed it, but I have no doubt he needed to be in that session.

Ashton needed to borrow my car, and he had just dropped me off at my house. Hannah happened to be leaving at the same time to pick Heidi up, so I hopped right in her car. Well two minutes later we are at the light right by my house, and Ashton is on our left side.

I tried waving to get his attention, but this boy was in the zone, jamming out to his music! By the way he was singing, I’m guessing it was a feely song, and he was feeling it! I ended up calling him, and told him to look over at us. It was pretty hilarious for him to realize we had been watching him. Okay, that’s my story. Ashton is awesome!

Joanna

I will help with the decorations for London's party, and I want to play with everybody. I love to swim with Mac, Brigham, Emma, Matteo, and Natalie and Nate. Ashton will be coming! I played kitchen with Emma and Mckay, and the big stuff.

Arby's! We have the MEATS! We will get to eat outside and get to go on some walks. We were trying to build a mountain outside. We chopped the bushes and put them in the water.

Veidi

Me and Gloria went on a walk with Bella Rosenlof, and it was really good, because we got exercise and so did Misha and Mable. Sister Talferd taught us how to do pottery, and we were making bowls for our secret sibling.

General Conference was also this week. I am glad that I listened and took a lot of notes. Me, Gloria, Endia, London, and Ashton went to go see General Conference, but we couldn't get in, so we went to a place and it was right by it and it was a nice place.

Quinn

We made clay bowls. The first time I did it, it was the best! It was practice. Sister Telford had these stamps that we put at the outside of the bowl. We had to make these snakes with clay. We had them in a bowl and bowls with water in them in the middle. It was fun.

One of my family's traditions while I was growing up was having ice cream sundaes for breakfast on April Fool's Day. Instead of doing our usual banana splits, we made a cookie sundae by taking a warm cookie and putting ice cream and hot fudge over it. It was fun to keep the tradition alive.

My uncle rented a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains for conference weekend, so we got to stay there for a couple days. It was super cold and windy, so we stayed inside for the most part, but we were okay with that because we had lots of snacks and games to keep us entertained.

This week was another really good one! I am staying busy with work and having a lot of fun! Since we have been playing volleyball every week, sometimes two to three times a week, I have been getting so much better. I am learning how to serve stronger and enjoy playing the net, which was always a struggle for me before. It is also cool to see all the other people who come regularly improve and have so much fun!

I was talking with one of the guys in my ward that comes to volleyball every week. I learned that Cougar hasn’t seen a lot of the really good Disney movies. He came over to my apartment this week and we watched Beauty and the Beast together.

I always really love conference weekend. I had to work this weekend, so I missed most of the talks on Saturday, but I have gone back and read them. I love how much I am learning and feeling. I know that God is aware of me and sending me the messages that I need to hear to help encourage me and teach me how to come closer to Christ.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week and enjoyed General Conference and all of that! Things here are good! It is slowly getting more and more cold, but the weather is almost perfect right now, not to hot, not to cold.

General Conference was great! I think it was really amazing how much they talked about missionary work. I think it was President Russel M. Nelson that said that the only lasting solution to all of the problems, globally, in the family, personally, is through Jesus Christ and his gospel, faith in Jesus Christ (with actions), repentance (daily), baptism, receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost (I love my companionship with the Holy Ghost), and persevere until the end (just keep going one decision at a time!).

During the week we received a reference from the hermanas. It was someone that they had found through Facebook. In their first call, they invited him to be baptized and he accepted a date, but greater than that, he means it!

They also said he wants to serve a mission! He's almost 20, lives out in the country/campo, and works with horses! He seems pretty cool. One thing that he said that stood out to me was that he was born Catholic, but was looking for a church that was more believing! I don't know, but that seems like a pretty strong testimony!

It's cool because as a missionary, if you get good at social media, the people that are prepared and are really looking for Christ to be the center of their lives will come to you! Another amazing thing is that every member and follower of Jesus Christ can post something that will help others come unto the peace, light, and guidance of Christ, in this world that is rapidly getting more and more chaotic, dark, and scary!

I had some good food this week! Walked a lot too! Served! Watched General Conference! Studied! Let me know if I can help any of you guys with anything, questions, prayers, etc. I'll look for ways to do what I can! Les amo!

Isaac got here and I was so excited. We played Exploding Kittens and it is now my favorite game. I love it so much, and I love all the little funny pictures on the cards.

We also decided to watch Pirates of the Caribbean. This is also one of my favorite movies to watch. We watched the first three just because those are the best. Then we watched the Batman series and I loved them. Isaac said that he was a little scared of the Joker, mainly because the Joker is a little scary in one of the Batman movies.

Then for General Conference we went to a cabin with lots of the Rush family and played a lot of games and had so much fun. We also played pool, and I really liked that game. It was so much fun. Isaac and I played with them, and it was the best.

On Thursday, Rebecca went to the beach to do yoga. I usually come with her and go to the beach for about an hour, but this time I went with a guy named Josh. He is really funny, and likes to talk, so it was a good time. He showed me how to bodyboard, which is just surfing but with your body as the surfboard basically. There were a few good waves but not too many, but still it was fun to hang out with him.

On Sunday Veidi, Alex, and I were able to make a delicious lunch in between sessions. We made Alfredo pasta, mashed potatoes, and tasty rolls. Mom and I had to run to the store and pick up butter and other things for other meals (originally it was just the butter). We got back and ate through a little bit of the second session. I loved all the messages that were shared during conference.

After Braden and I got to the house after he picked me up from the airport, we had delicious enchiladas that Brooke made. After, I settled into my room and unpacked my stuff while Braden set up my bed.

After dinner, we played Exploding Kittens. It was super funny because one of the times on my first turn I pulled an Exploding Kitten and I had to use my Defuse. There was a lot of sabotaging and a lot of laughs.

One night Braden and Brooke asked us what movie we wanted to watch. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean and I asked Vanessa if she wanted to watch it. Vanessa said yes and we watched it on ClearPlay. Then we wanted to watch the second and third one too. We split them up into one a night.

At a cabin in the Blue Mountains

Once we finished the first three Pirates, Braden asked us if we wanted to watch the Dark Knight Series. I was super excited because he said that one of the movies in the trilogy was one of his favorite superhero movies. We watched one of them every night. I think that my favorite is the second one with Joker. They were all really good though.

While we were watching the second one, I left to go and grab a drink and Braden said, “Isaac you want to be here for this part. It’s really important.” So, I ran back to my seat and right as I sat down and turned to the screen a jump scare came, and I got really freaked out.

For the General Conference weekend, we went to a cabin with Brooke’s family and watched General Conference there and had a good time. At the cabin there was a pool table, and we played a lot of pool. One game that one of Brooke’s uncles, and Corbin taught everyone was a game called Ugly. You play it on a pool table, and it was really fun. There is a lot of running around and it was a lot of fun.

This week was the General Conference. I really liked the talks, especially Elder Aidukaitis' talk about missionary work. Then we did pottery with Sister Telford. We made secret sibling pots where we made a pot for a sibling. I really liked serving and taking the time to do that. Also, Mom was comparing what we were doing—making pottery—to the gospel.

Troy

This week it was General Conference, and we did pottery, and it was cool. We also did General Conference, and I liked the talks that they gave. We also did bingo cards, which was also nice, and Dad said to write things that we learned about on the back of the bingo card. My pottery was for Alex.

Gloria

This has been a pretty good week for me. In seminary I learned about the Passover and what the people had to do with the lamb. Also, we made clay bowls on Friday and those were just practice bowls. Saturday, we made them for secret siblings and I got Ashton. I hope he likes the design I put on them. Now we just need to paint, glaze, and put them in the heat.

We also listened to the General Conference, and I enjoyed it more than I used to. On Sunday, Endia, London, Ashton, Veidi and I went to Temple Square and listened to it in the grass. The reason we were there was because we went to see if we could go in the conference room. And we couldn't go in.
