VOLUME 11 – NUMBER 492
Yarima and Selvin’s soccer team
My friend Yesica put a soccer team together to play Wednesday nights at a rec center. It has been a lot of fun. Our team is our AM shift from work, along with Selvin and his brother Emerson.
We’ve really enjoyed having something to distract us from work and responsibilities. The majority of us work together so it has been fun to hang out outside of work.

On Monday, London and I went over to Endia and Cougar’s house to celebrate for Endia’s birthday. Let just say she ended up with a lot of peanut butter stuff, ha ha! I should also add that I pretty easily won the game of Mexican Train that we played, which I don’t feel like is too common for me.
Friday, Aura and her girls along with her dad and I went over to London’s for dinner. It was so fun, and afterwards Yaretzie and Itzel came with us to play volleyball. I also learned about what “ant-poop” is and I got to say I love it! Ha, ha Yarima!
In the morning I went with Itzel and Yaretzie to Waffle Love and it was delicious. We played some games and they hung out in the clubhouse for my apartment complex while I got ready. Then we headed down to West Jordan.
Ashton and boys at All-Star practice
The boys and I went to the all-star practice that afternoon, and it was really cool to see all of the NBA stars in one place. It was pretty weird though, because two of the players did so bad at the contest they did for charity—only scoring two points (one shot) in a minute and a half and they were wide open. But it was still fun. On the way back to the car we had a brief snowball fight and got to watch some funny videos.
Later that night I went on a date with Addy Zimmerman and it was really fun! I was glad to give her a chance to get out and hopefully do something fun between some very difficult cancer treatments. We got Kneaders, and she ordered the right thing because hers was the same price as mine and like 10 times bigger!
Then we went to get some snacks to smuggle into the theater, and we were successful. Still 100% on that and each time I try to make it more and more creative with how we get them in. It was a packed day and one to remember!
Endia and Cougar visiting Grandparents Hill
We spent the holiday weekend in Malad with the Hill grandparents. We looked through tons of cute family photos and the Hills helped us with some family history.
They had lots of pictures that Endia and I had never seen. She saved some of her favorites and printed off enough to make a baby book for London.

This week was pretty great! We made some cookies for some people we're teaching, eating in the house of other people has become something super special, being that we always cook for ourselves (pero nuestra comida queda rico siempre, ja ja), but a lady we're teaching invited us over for dinner!
It’s really awesome being district leader. It's helping me learn a ton. It's crazy how the mission helps you grow, I'm 1,000% sure that if I hadn't chosen to be missionary I would have never become who I am now, and who I am learning to become. It's vital to be humilde and confide in God's will and the power of Christ, but if you do I promise you'll experience the blessing promised in Ether 12:27.
The sacrament is something really special, as well. It's super amazing, but Heavenly Father really has given us all that we need to be with him again. Eternity's gonna be amazing, so just trust in God and he'll help you out. Keep making good choices!

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm honestly not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but this time it was alright. I didn't have a Valentine if that's what you're thinking. It was just an okay day for me. The morning started off a little rocky, but then it smoothed out, and I got to help Riley ask Gloria to be her Valentine!
Also, this week, Gloria is "making" me ask someone to prom. I have an idea on what I'm going to do, and who I'm going to ask, and I'm going to do it on Monday, after we have our party and watch the first Harry Potter! Wish me luck!
Monte after eating 11 pupusas
This week I have been working on school because I am a little behind. I got all caught up. I also had the state wrestling tournament on Wednesday and Thursday. I wrestled on Wednesday against the number one girl in my wight class. She was really good and she won.
My other match went better then my first match. I lasted a little longer. I was put in a cradle both times and was done wrestling in state.
The second day I went to cheer on my teammates that were still in. I think there was only five left. We got second place as a team. After it was over, we went to Chuck-A-Rama as a team and our coaches all gave a speech that mede me a little emotional.
The Munguia's came over to our house on Saturday and taught us how to make pupusas. I helped Sister Munguia make them, and I really did enjoy learning some things about them and the food they make. It was so so good! I only had three and I was stuffed.
I also got asked out to Prom by Riley on Saturday. I am so excited to go with him and some other friends.

We had another Australian shepherd named Gruff. He was a little bit bigger than the last two we had.
Mom asked me to teach him to go on his place and paws up. So I have been working on that for the past week. I also have been getting ahead in school so I could get finish early.
Ellie, Braden, Charlie, and Brooke on hike
The company I work for gives a generous three weeks of paternity leave whenever one of their employees has a baby. When Charlie was born, we were in the middle of busy season and so I was asked if I could take one week when she was born and the other two when we were less busy.
This week was the first of my remaining two weeks off. We did plenty of hanging out around our apartment, but we also made sure to get out of the house. We took the girls to the library, the zoo, and an easy hike to a waterfall.
I’m definitely going to miss being able to go and do random fun stuffwith the girls in the middle of the day. I’ll make the most of it while I can!
Caleb and Elder Miranda eating dinner
Some of our friends from our ward came over to make some pupusas. While we were waiting for them to be made, we decided to play some games with Herbert. It was really fun playing Exploding Minions/Kittens. Afterward, we wanted to play Among Us, but it kind of took a little while to get all the devices set up. Once we got it all started we began to play.
When it was time to eat, we paused our game, and came over to the kitchen. For dinner we had pupusas with a homemade red sauce that the Munguia's had made. It was way better than the average tomato sauce that you'd typically put on a pizza or something.
We also had something that was kind like a salad, but it wasn't at the same time. It was called escaveche. I think it had some onions with carrots, and at first look, I wasn't too excited about it, but when I took my first bite, I was very surprised! It was actually really good!
Sometimes it's a little scary to try new things, but if you can get out of your comfort zone and try hard things, I promise the rewards are amazing, just like pupusas and escaveche!
