VOLUME 12 – NUMBER 555

Hannah, London, and Heidi in London

I’m a little late writing about this, but during the first 10 days of this month, I went on an incredible trip with my roommates Hannah and Heidi! We went to the UK and travelled from London to Edinburgh, then flew to Ireland, back to Bristol, and then to Southern England.

I was amazed by how beautiful the countryside was. Plus it’s always been on my bucket list to travel to London!

Honestly I liked the country more than the city, but the whole trip was filled with fun new places and activities and more than anything it was great going with two of my closest friends!

This weekend I started to feel sick. I was up most of Saturday night, and I stayed home from church to recuperate. During church, I was surprised when I got a text from Jenny that read, “Did you know they are forming a new Spanish stake?”

As we got more information, we found out that the church is forming the first all-Spanish stake in the Salt Lake Valley, and the Oquirrh Point 5th Ward, along with seven other Spanish-speaking units, will be a part of that new stake.

That also means that these wards will be leaving their current home stakes. As we discussed this with our family, we realized that we will need to choose between attending the 5th Ward and remaining in the Oquirrh Point Stake.

Sadly, in part because of my current calling as a stake clerk, we have made the decision to return to our geographical ward. I believe we are all grateful for the nearly two years that we spent as members of the Oquirrh Point 5th Ward, which has had a significant impact on our lives.

We will miss the 5th Ward very much. I also know that change is a part of life, and good things will come from this.

This week school ends! I am so excited to start summer, plan parties, and hang out with friends. We also went to go and see the Taylorsvile temple open house with my biological mom and siblings.

It was a good experience to have—being there with her and helping her make the next step to following Christ. It was also a very spiritual experience that I had with my mom. I will never forget it.

This week has been a little rough because I got sick along with Veidi, Troy, Quinn, and Joanna. The first day I got sick was really bad because for most of the day I could not move, and my body would hurt with lightest touch. After being sick for a few days, I went to stake sports, but I was still recovering.

On Friday we went to the open house for the Taylorsville Temple. My mom came with the kids. I found out that she has been going to church. She came to the open house with friends that have been inviting her to church. After going through the temple she said that she felt so much peace. While we were in the temple, she turned and asked me, “Do you believe all of this?” I said, “Yes, I do.”

On Saturday we had a picnic up at Falcon Ridge Elementary with the family. After eating lunch we played. Later the night Riley Invited me to his house to roast hot dogs with his family. It was a fun night hanging out with his family and his grandparents.

This week Aiden and I went to see Spider-Man 3. Unfortunately, last week we didn’t make it in time to get a movie poster, but this week we did end up getting a poster, and it was cool! I was a little sad, because Hazel had a last minute thing come up where she couldn’t make it to this one, but she should be able to join us next week to see The Amazing Spider-Man!

As you probably read in my articles before, they have been showing one of the Spider-Man movies each week, and even though we originally debated, we ended up deciding to go to all eight movies (from three different trilogies), because…why not!

On another note, I officially finished all my classes with decent grades this week, so I am done with High School. It’s really crazy! Next week is also Graduation, and we’re going down to St George for it. I’m really excited for that and I still can’t believe that something that’s kind of always been a part of my life is now over!

Mother’s Day dinner

Sunday was Mother's Day, so for our young mens and young womens activity, we decided to make cards for our moms. On Tuesday, only me, Kai, Isaac, and Monte went to the activity, because Gloria and Veidi were sick.

When we got to the church, there wasn't much people. We started, and it was fun and full of laughter. We then all put gold mom letters on our cards. Some people had to use the letter “w” and put “wow” upside down, because we ran out of the letter “m.”

When we got home, we got Hamburger Helper for dinner. It was delicious. After dinner I went to bed. In the morning I was sick, probably because I was sleeping in a bedroom with Gloria, and she was sick.

So. now me, Quinn, and Gloria are sick. We were able to watch a movie with Dad’s iPad. We also watched Troll Hunters the whole day. We finished the first season.

Endia and Cougar visited over the weekend, and I got sick over the weekend, which was kind of sad. It's always so fun to hang out with them and be able to play with Owen, so being sick made this weekend kind of a bummer.

On Sunday I stayed home sick from church. When Endia got back from church, she told me some pretty big news—Our ward was gonna move out of the Stake!

This was a shocker to me, I didn't expect it to happen! I've had mixed emotions, cause I've just made some pretty great friends. Now we're gonna have to move out of that ward because Dad has a stake calling in the Oquirrh Point Stake.

This means I'm gonna have to make some new friends now, which is not one of my strong points. Hopefully I can make some friends in this new ward.

We have a Thanksgiving Point pass, so we spend a lot of time at the museum with friends. There are so many of us, that when we go, we always look like a daycare center!

I would love to write about my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know If I read it through hard times, it can help me.

One time I had to prepare for a talk, I remembered Lehi's Vision. Lehi had a vision about the tree of life. He took of the fruit that filled him up with joy. He wanted his family to take of it, and his family did come and took the fruit, expect for Laban and Lemuel.

Baby Mattias

On the other side next to the tree there was a building, but you had to cross a river. The river was deep and no one could cross it. The building had many people from all ages. The building was full with wickedness, laughing, and mocking of the people at the tree.

Many of the people left the tree, but not Lehi and his family. When Lehi and his family did not leave the tree, that made me feel like I should keep following the gospel to make me happy.
