VOLUME 12 – NUMBER 575
Monte and Aiden heading to FanX
Two more things down for my mission papers! This week I went in for my medical exam and my dental exam. My medical exam went by with no problems, but then came my dental exam.
I haven’t had a cavity since I was five years old, and it just so happened that I have one now. Everything else looked good except that, but now I need to schedule a time to get that cavity filled, and it might take a little longer than expected.
Fingers crossed that I can get it done a little earlier, so I can submit my mission papers as soon as possible. Maybe Uncle Keith can help…
Spider-Man pointing meme
I also went to FanX with Aiden this Saturday. We finished up our Spider-Man suits just in time. We took the train down, and it was so cool seeing all the costumes and booths at FanX. Downtown Salt Lake was filled with people that were all going to the convention.
It was so funny, because every time we came across someone dressed in a Spider-Man suit, we would spontaneously do what’s called the “Spider-Man pointing meme.”
We saw some cool merchandise, and at one of my favorite booths, they were selling some cool lightsabers! When I got home, I was so tired from all the walking. It had a good time hanging out with Aiden.
Dad sorting items at Aura’s house
This week we went to help move stuff out of Aura’s house, so they can sell it. We were there for most of the day to help sort things and take stuff to Deseret Industries and to the dump.
It was funny because we had a table in the front yard for sorting, and Dad was helping do that, but it was warm and sunny, and so he borrowed Itzel’s hat to shade him while he was working!
I enjoyed spending time with family. I also had a lot of stuff that I brought home. Aura had some wigs that she had, and Yaretzie, Veidi, Mom, and I put them on to have a little fashion show!
Later that night, I went and hung out with Riley for a few hours. We watched The Swiss Family Robinson. I liked the movie. It was about this family who got in a shipwreck, and they made a nice home on an island after many months of living there by themselves.
Children playing at Aura’s house
Saturday we went to Andrew Nelson's reception at the Nelson’s. I had an enjoyable time. The food was very delicious, I loved the Italian sodas. There were lots of people there.
The way Andrew and Matilda left was really cool to see. They left by a helicopter flying them away. Mom and Dad said that Keith and Amy left from their wedding reception the same way 25 years ago.
Stake conference was really good. I had a great experience. Elder Pearson's talks were really intense—in a good way. That made me think about how God wants us to listen to his people here on earth.
Charlie and Ellie
Stake Conference was this week! In it they announced the new stake presidency for our stake. Brother Bradford, or President Bradford now, is the new stake president, President Davis is his counselor, and President Johnson is his other counselor.
I'm excited for our new stake presidency! They all seem like really good people! Dad is the stake clerk, and he and Brother Bell, who is the stake executive secretary, weren’t released, so they will serve with the new stake presidency.
Elders Pearson, Smith, new presidency
This week was Caleb's birthday! Mom, Dad, and Caleb went to dinner. Before they left, Ashton and Caleb were arguing about whether chocolate is the opposite of vanilla or not!
Ashton thinks vanilla is the opposite of chocolate, but Caleb said vanilla is not the opposite of chocolate, and something more like bacon should be the opposite. We kept telling them to stop, and finally they did, but they were talking about it for a month! We had lots of fun!
Caleb’s birthday celebration
This week was Caleb's birthday. He came over for the day. London also came over with his birthday cake, which was cinnamon rolls. They were delicious!
This week was stake conference, and I thought Dad might be called to be one of the counselors. When we got to the church, it was hard to find a spot for our whole family, so I had to sit with Dad and Veidi over by the front right side of the chapel.
It was a fantastic meeting. I felt the spirit all over the place. It turns out that Dad didn't become a counselor, which is okay because he is the stake clerk, so he will still have keys to do crazyball.
Braden and Brooke
Brooke’s youngest sister is about to leave on her mission later this fall, and so her side of the family got together this week for family pictures. We got extended pictures, but also got a few immediate family ones too.
We ended up going to the same place where we went five years ago to take pictures. At that time, Brooke was pregnant with Ellie, and this time she’s pregnant with our third girl. It was fun to look back at those old pictures and compare to now. We’ve changed a lot and our family has grown—we love our life!
We also noticed that in each of the last four family picture photoshoots, Charlie and I have pretty much identical candid shots that match up perfectly. It’s fun to see how she changes and grows over the years!
Five-year comparison
This week I got a new book series that I've been wanting to read. It’s by Brandon Sanderson. I just finished a book series he wrote called Mistborn—all seven of them.
Now I'm starting his book series called the Way of Kings. I don't know much of what its about, but it's kind of cool, because all of Brandon Sanderson's books take place in the same universe, which is called the Cosmere. In theory, all of the books he has written, aside from the childrens books, are all connected in some way.
Although I've only just started reading the book, I already really like it. It's a pretty thick book, but I think I'm down for the challenge.
