Miller family reunion in St. George

This weekend I got to drive down to St. George for our family reunion. This was the first time that I’ve driven that distance, but it was fun! I had Gloria and Quinn in the car with me.

The place we stayed at was huge! It was awesome having everyone in the family there! I got to hang out with James Jex a lot, which was good, because it’s been a while since we’d talked. The food was always amazing, and we even had our own personal pool in the back yard.

This week, I also asked Hazel out again, and she said yes. We still need to figure out a day, but it’s looking like sometime next weekend. So I’m really excited for that!

Gloria, Quinn, Monte on trip to St. George

On the way to St. George, I was with Monte and Gloria. We had snacks. It was a long ride. We had lots of bathroom breaks. At one stop, Dad made us BLT's for lunch.

When we got to St. George, it was a very nice house. It had two sides, and each side had a hot tub and a swimming pool. Me and Troy slept outside on the patio.

In the morning, we had a good breakfast. For lunch we had ice cream after. I played with Itzel and Ethan. Pizza was for dinner, and I ate outside.

In the morning, I played with magnet's. London went to the marathon, so we went to wait for her. After that, me, Dad, Joanna, and Troy got ready to leave one night early. We had lots of fun!

This week I had my first ever interview at Sunridge Assisted Living and Memory Care to be a CNA. I was a little nervous when I got there. I think it went well. Later that night for our activity Veid and I learned how to do CPR. I learned a lot on how to save someone.

On Thursday I got a Text from Val the coordinator at Sunridge saying I got the job, and I can stat onboarding anytime! I can't believe that I will be getting another job and going on to do something new.

Miller family reunion in St. George

On Friday we went to St. George. Mom stayed home to take care of dogs. I was in the car with Monte and Quinn. It was a long car ride for me, but we had lots of snacks and music to sing along to. When we got there, we went swimming and relaxed and had pizza.

The next morning, we went to the St. George Marathon to support family members who were running. Later that day, London and Keaton invited a few of us to go rock climbing. Selvin, Julia (exchange student), Ánh (exchange student), Yaretzie, Cougar, and I all decided to go with them.

I was a little scared a first when I stated the climb. Then on the second climb I was not as scared. I had a lot of fun being in St. George with family and getting to know them more.

Jen and Israel at Miller family reunion

This week was the family reunion in St. George. I had a lot of fun. I went swimming a lot, and played a lot of games. It was all really fun.

The first night we stayed up all night until all the runners left early in the morning, and that was a lot of fun. The next night we stayed up pretty late but not terribly late.

However, the last night we stayed up all the way till 6:00am waiting for London and Keaton, because that's when Keaton said they would be leaving. When they weren’t up by 6:04am, we headed to bed, but we did leave them a little note, and a grilled cheese sandwich.

We also went to a volleyball sand court that was nearby and played there, which was really fun. I had a lot of fun on the trip.

The ride back was also really fun. Dad had gone home the night before with the Littles, so he could be to class on time on Monday morning, and Aunt Wendy got a ride home with us.

We stopped at a place in Beaver called Mel's Drive Inn. The food was delicious, and then we drove home and dropped some stuff off at London's and Caleb's place.

Playing games at Miller family reunion

Me, Kai, and Isaac got up early to leave with Ashton to St. George for the family reunion. We got there around noon, and we went to Neilson’s and got some Ice cream. Then we went to get some tacos.

After we ate, Ashton wanted to go to a playground that was for adults. We went there and it was fun, but it was also really hot, so I did not do much on it.

Then we saw that Natalie was at the house, so we headed over. It was really fun to go swimming because it was really hot. Then we played games and ate dinner, and then we went to bed.

We got up and got ready for the marathon so we could cheer for the three half marathoners: London, Aunt Wendy, and Aunt Liz. Andrew was running the full marathon, but couldn’t finish.

Then we went back to the house swam for a while. In the pool, we also worked as a group to see how many times we could bump a volleyball without dropping it, and we got up to 36 bumps!

After we ate dinner, some of us went to play volleyball. It was so fun. Then we came back and went night swimming. We stayed up late Sunday night playing games. I had a fun time in St. George. Then we went home. I liked hanging out with the family.

Earlier this week, Dad decided to do a write-a-thon with the family at home as a way to get more caught up on newsletter articles. This was good, especially for Dad and I because we were so far behind on articles!

Now, the write-a-thon wouldn't really work for the writers based off of sheer devotion, so we incentivized them by adding treats to the mix, which seemed to get people going!

Thanks to the write-a-thon, Dad and I are no longer so far behind. We're really catching up on our newsletters!

Children writing newsletter articles

Dad is having us do a write-a-thon for newsletters, and I am a little worried because I have not done newsletters in a long time, and I will have to do a lot. Thankfully Dad has rewards for us like eating out and treats.

When we first started, I was especially worried about remembering things that happened in June and July, but Dad sent out emails about what happened during those weeks, and I felt relief.

Dad also had us put some sticky notes for each article we did on the wall, so we could keep track. I had to write 12 articles in total and it was hard to remember things. Dad didn't want me to write about my testimony again, because I had done that a few times already. After we had food and watched a movie.

James Jex and Monte at family reunion

This week we went to St. George because we were having a family reunion with the whole Miller family. Me, Quinn, and Joanna went with Dad in one car, while the others went with Monte. Because Mom wasn't going—she was watching the dogs.

When we got there, it was like a mansion, because Aunt Amy rented two houses that were connected. It was really fun, because almost everybody was there. We went swimming, played basketball and football in the big backyard.

While the others got to sleep in the house, me and Quinn slept on a cot outside, which was so fun and quiet. I had an amazing time at St. George.

Family playing at Miller family reunion

We went to St George. When we got there, me and Dad went to our room that we shared. After that, I went to talk to everybody, which was the whole family.

The next morning, Dad let me and Quinn go swimming. Then at night, we went swimming again, and I got to go into the hot tub. Then we had pizza. Then I was able to watch a show called Over the Moon.

In the morning, I woke up, and Quinn was building with magnets, so I joined him and built a beautiful house. Then when we went back home. We each had a snack, and then came home and went to bed. It was all amazing!

Girls playing at Miller family reunion

It has been a fun week full of family activities! My sisters from out of state came into town, so we were all together, which is always my favorite! Throughout the week, we went to Cornbelly’s, had our family pictures taken, and my youngest sister opened up her mission call—she is going to Knoxville, Tennessee!

Then over the weekend, we went to St. George for the Miller family reunion! It was so fun to get to spend time with more family, play games, and relax in the pool.

One of my favorite parts was playing Avalon on our last night. That game is always stressful for me, but it was a ton of fun!
It was a great week and I’m so grateful to have such great families on both sides!

London after St. George half marathon

Braden, Caleb, and I went to watch the Transformers One movie this week, and it was actually pretty good. I haven’t been invested into Transformers ever, and even with that I thought it was pretty funny and entertaining.

Then, spending the weekend in St. George was so fun! It had been so long since seeing everyone in the family come together.

My friend Daniel was running the marathon, so it was fun to see him at the finish line. London also did so well on her half marathon, and can’t believe she ran with everything happening with her kidney stones as well!

My favorite parts were playing basketball, football, and the constant swimming. I’m looking forward to this if it becomes and annual tradition. I’ve also been inspired to run next year!
