VOLUME 12 – NUMBER 577
Monte and Hazel on a date
I went on another date with Hazel this week. This time, it was just the two of us. We had our date earlier in the day, because of the Spanish ward fundraiser that was happening that night.
We started off by going to lunch. I didn’t really have a specific place that I wanted to go, so I let Hazel decide. She suggested that we go to a place called Penny Ann’s. When we got there, it was a forty minute wait, and the both of us were really hungry, so we decided to go to her second suggestion.
We were chatting in the car, talking about Teslas and robots, and Hazel made a joke about how cars are eventually going to revolt, and funny enough, I had been following the map on the Tesla, and it was taking us a lot further than where we were supposed to be! We witnessed the revolt first hand! We both had a pretty good laugh after that.

We finally arrived at Waffle Love, and it was delicious! We talked about recently released movies, and what upcoming movies we were excited for. After we finished eating, we went ice skating. We got there just a bit early, so to pass the time, we played a little game of chess in the Tesla. I started off strong, but I made one little mistake and it all went down hill from there.
After Hazel won, we went inside the Utah Olympic oval, and ice skated for a while. It’s really fun just being able to talk to someone that has a lot of the same interests as I do. She would bring up a lot of Star Wars and Marvel topics, and we talked about what we were going to be for Halloween. She’s gonna be Charlie Brown, and her black and white dog is gonna be Snoopy.
After ice skating, she wanted smoothies, so we went to Roxberry’s Smoothies. They were actually really good. I then took her home. Just another amazing date.
Braden and Brooke’s new minivan
The two big things that happened this week were an offsite we had for work, and Braden’s and my trip to Denver and back to Utah.
For work, this time of year is always kind of exciting because we have a lot of offsites where we spend the day doing training and activities somewhere outside the MTC. This year we went to a cabin and did some training, a polar plunge, see-saw, and an Orby “Call of Duty” activity where we used water-gel, paintball-like guns. It was so fun! I am so grateful for my job and the people that work there.
The second thing? Mom drove Braden and I to the airport at 4:00am where we caught an early flight to Denver. Once we got there, we went to get Braden’s new minivan, and we were on the road back to Utah by 8:30am. It was a beautiful drive and such a weird feeling to go state to state and back in one day.

Recently, I applied for a new job as a caregiver/CNA at Sunridge memory home, I went to an interview and I think It went well because I got hired. I have been able to finish getting everything ready to start training in a few weeks.
I went and got my fingerprints done and finished onboarding. I'm very nervous to start something new and out of my comfort zone. This job will help me to get closer to people and learn how to take care of people.
My last week at Falcon Ridge as a sweeper is next Friday. I'm sad leaving after almost four years. I've made so many new friendships at Falcon Ridge with people who are around my age. My new job will help to to work with adults and elderly people. I am very excited to start a new chapter in my life.
Mom and Gloria helping Endia move
This week for my school project, I made Jamaican dumplings, because I did a slide on Jamaican culture. I had so much fun making them, but I did not know how they would turn out. They were so delicious when I had them, and I got 100% on my project!
It was also Kai’s birthday. He decided to play crazyball at the church, and the Olders came over. It was a good week for me.
Veidi’s Jamaican dumplings
This week I've really enjoyed working at Costa Vida. I've been getting really good hours, and saving money for college and a mission. It's really fun. I've been getting to learn how to do everything, like taking orders at the drive thru, taking people's payments, making salads, and a couple other things.
One of the few things that I have yet to learn is how to do “lead,” which is doing all of the hot stuff—basically assembling the burrito's salads, meats, etc. Hopefully I get to start learning how to do that soon, cause it kind of seems like fun.
Braden helping Cougar move
One night this week, we had spent the evening at my parents. We were getting home late, and as we unloaded the girls from the car and started to enter into the house from the garage, Braden suddenly said, “Get the kids back in the car.”
I kind of freaked out and froze, unsure of what was going on. Apparently our front door was open. It was around 10:00pm and we weren’t sure if someone had broken into our house and if they were still there!
We got into the car and drove a little ways away, and then Braden called the police—his third time calling the police in 18 months! The dispatcher sent over some police officers and they came and told us they were going to go inside our house to see if anyone was there.

Soon more cop cars showed up and now there were about seven or eight officers going in to check! We watched them as they entered our house, their guns and flashlights out. It was kind of cool to see, cause I’ve only seen stuff like that on TV.
They finished up and told us that no one was inside. They said it didn’t look like anything was stolen. That was a relief! They told us it was possible that someone accidentally opened the door, thinking it was their house and left the door open, or a strong gust of wind could’ve opened it. Either way, it made for an interesting night for us!
Troy and Caleb helping Pope’s move
Mom had told us that we were going to have three dogs from one owner stay at our house this week. Their names were Kai, Joey, and Gump, and they were so cute and so easy to take care of.
It is also Kai's birthday. I have been asking him what he wanted for his present, but I haven't been able to get it from him.
This week I helped Endia and Cougar move to North Provo, because Endia has a new job and is going to be living in the home of an older woman who she will be caring for. While Isaac, Veidi, and Kai stayed home, we went to help them move. it was quite a quick move because it was all well organized.

On the way back, I was riding with Mom, Dad, Gloria, and Caleb. It was a fun ride because Caleb was teaching us about physical science. It was so interesting and so fascinating. I was shocked at how we know so much. On the ride home, Dad also bought Sour Patch Watermelons to keep us going.
When we got back, I asked Kai what he wanted for his birthday again, and he said he wanted an Airsoft gun. We found a $79 one, and an Airsoft mask, which was so cool looking. It was a total of $110, and Dad let me know that he didn’t want me to spend that much money on a present for Kai.
Kai’s birthday celebration
My birthday was this week. I turned 15! A bunch of family came over to celebrate! For dinner we made chicken croissants. London made criss-cross peanut butter cookies as my cake, which I hadn't had in decades! Anyway, they tasted amazing!
And because I love chocolate milk so much, we went to the store to get some! Once we finished with dinner and desserts, we went to the church to play some games like crazyball, dodgeball, or even soccer. We ended up playing crazyball as usual, and I had a blast! It's always fun playing with family because we make a good time out of it. Usually.
