VOLUME 13 – NUMBER 599

London and Hannah skiing

Hannah has been talking about wanting to try skiing all season, and we finally found a time that we could both commit to. We went up to Brighton with some of her younger cousins who are very good skiers.

They were awesome and gave some good tips that helped make parallel turning way more possible, and it felt so much easier to control going down than the last time I went. Hannah unfortunately got some bad whiplash from falling, but she said she’s glad she tried it.

We had an interesting time getting home since the canyon snow got pretty bad, and the roads were super slick—did I mention we were driving a mini van! We definitely said a couple of prayers that we’d get home safely, and man was God watching out for us!

At one point Hannah tried slowing down, but we started sliding and almost hit the car in front of us. We slid into a small ditch instead. It was just our tires stuck and we were able to drive forward until the ditch part leveled back and we got back on the road.

I’m told that I’m pretty good at staying calm in really stressful situations, so I was glad to be a calm voice helping talk through how we could get out of it.

It was quite an adventure for sure! I’m excited to go skiing again hopefully at least one more time this season.

Luis and I and our friends growing up, Jack Anderson and Spencer Greenwood, all got together after almost four years of not being together. It was so fun to be together and hang out again. It was like we didn't skip a beat in some ways.

We met up in Herriman at Spencer's parents house, since all of us have our own places now and are spread out. We got pizza, talked, shared some stories, caught up, played some ping pong, little pop-a-shot, and the video game Overcooked.

I love these guys. They're a lot of fun. When I hang out with them, I feel like a natural side of me shines through more, compared to when I hang out with other groups.

Troy and Matthias

Saturday, I made my way back up to West Jordan to visit the family. Their ward had a talent show. I loved watching Troy and his deacons quorum's  skit. Troy's line was definitely original—ha ha.

Also, Quinn also did an awesome job playing We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet. It was super brave of him to do that!

At home I had a fun time making up a secret handshake with Joanna and playing some Mario Kart with Monte and Kai. I always love spending time with all you guys! Love you!

Sick Joanna

This week was such an exhausting week for me. I worked more than 40 hours. For me that was a lot, because I never work that much.

I started med tech training—passing pills—in Memory Care. I have to be more focused to make sure I give everyone the right medicine. I had to do two trainings in Memory Care. Now I am officially a med tech back there.

In Assisted Living, I need four trainings, and I have only done two. After training, I think I have gotten better and went a bit faster, but I still have to be careful.

Other than me rambling on about work…on Thursday Riley came over to watch Star Wars. We watched two movies. I am understanding more every time I watch them. Thank you, Monte for watching and explaining things during the movie. During the movie I was in charge of watching Matthias.

On Friday I got my nails done by Taylor Danielson. She did such a great job. We decided to do Saint Patrick nails. It did take a while to get them done, but most of the time we talked. When the nails were done we did our facials.

On Saturday Monte, Troy, Quinn, Veidi and I went to the ward talent show. There were so many good talents. My favorite one was Aiden Viehweger’s. He sang Hallelujah while playing it on the guitar, and it sounded so good. The Fernandez family did their traditional dances, which were also so beautiful.

The new Hunger Games book is coming out in a week and I’m sooo excited. I have it pre ordered so I can get it the day it comes out. I can’t wait.

It’s about the character Haymitch Abernathy’s hunger games, and it follows his story when he was younger, which is super cool. I can’t wait!

A couple months ago I started watching a show on Apple TV+ called Severance. I binged the first season but over the last ten weeks they’ve been releasing season 2 week-to-week.

As I’ve been watching I’ve slowly been getting more and more of the family to watch. Yarima and I had the idea to have a watch party for the season 2 finale and invite anyone in the fam who was current on the show.

For my activity this week we painted underwater creatures, and it was fun painting. Me and Troy walked home with friends.

Stake sports was fun. I did Nine-Square and we played with a ginormous ball. It was absolutely huge but it was super fun playing with it. It was also Nash’s birthday and at the end of stake sports we all sang happy birthday to him and then we went home.

On Saturday me and Mom went to Natalie’s to give her dogs a bath and clean up her dog room. It was a lot of work but it was worth it. It was actually pretty fun.

Some of us went to the ward talent show. Taylor and Isabelle were there, so I hung out with them. Me and Taylor had a lot of popcorn—four and a half bowls! It was delicious,

I really liked Troy’s skit with the deacons. I was not able to see Quinn’s performance, because me and Troy had to go home and help with the dogs. I had a great week.

Ashton’s basketball team

My stake just started to do a basketball tournament, and we had our first game on Saturday. We were excited for it, because a lot of us have been playing with our ward every week for over a year, and we feel like we have some good chemistry built up.

Well, we got a little nervous because we started off down 8 to 23. Then before we knew it, we ended up winning the game 98-57.

It was such a fun experience and definitely boosted our confidence to be able to compete even when we’re down. We have our next game next week and hope we make a run to the championship.

Our new stake president, Pete Bradford, has been encouraging stake members to consider becoming temple workers. As a result, his second counselor, Dan Johnson, decided he had time to take a temple shift on Friday mornings. Dan’s main concern was finding a substitute when he can’t attend his shift.

After giving it some thought, I decided that one way I can help the stake presidency is to be available for Dan when he needs a sub. So I decided to become a temple worker too.

After talking to my bishop and the stake president, they submitted my name to our temple, Jordan River, and this week I was called in and set apart.

It was a beautiful spring morning, and as I walked out to the car, I realized that 31 years ago to the day—March 12—Jenny was endowed in this same temple. It was kind of neat to be set apart on the same day in the same temple!
